Local search and Google Business Profile for HVAC companies

Most homeowners pick an HVAC contractor from the map results. We set up and maintain your Google Business Profile and the local pages that support it, so you appear where you actually work, for the jobs you want.

Local search is how an HVAC company appears in Google's map results and local listings when someone nearby searches for a furnace repair, a heat pump quote or an AC tune-up. For most residential contractors it is the most reliable source of calls. We set up, clean up and maintain your Google Business Profile, build the local pages on your website that support it, and track the calls it produces.

What it is

The short answer: making sure Google understands exactly what you do, where you do it, and that customers trust you.

Map results draw on three broad signals: how relevant your business is to the search, how close it is to the searcher, and how prominent it appears online through reviews, mentions and your website. You can't move your shop, but you can make your profile accurate and complete, earn reviews steadily, and give Google clear pages for each service and area.

Who it's for

  • Residential HVAC contractors who depend on local homeowners.
  • Companies whose profile was set up years ago and never touched again.
  • Contractors expanding into a new town or adding a service such as heat pumps or boilers.
  • Firms that rank well for their own name but not for the jobs they want, like "furnace replacement" or "ductless heat pump".

What's included

  1. Profile audit and cleanup. Business name exactly as registered, primary and secondary categories, service areas, hours, phone, services list and descriptions.
  2. Service-area structure. Clear service areas that match where you actually send trucks, with no fake addresses.
  3. Local pages. Pages on your site for each core service and the main communities you serve, written with real local detail rather than swapped town names.
  4. Review system. A simple, compliant process for asking every customer for a review, and replying to reviews promptly and professionally.
  5. Profile activity. Regular posts and photos, for example when a program opens or a cold snap is forecast.
  6. Trust signals. Making licences and registrations visible where homeowners look, as TSSA encouraged in its March 2026 warning about unregistered fuels workers.
  7. Call tracking. Tracking numbers and reporting so we can see which calls came from the profile.

Timeline

  • Month 1: audit, cleanup, tracking set up, review process running.
  • Months 2–3: local pages written and published, profile activity steady.
  • Months 4–6: visibility and call trends become clear; we adjust categories, pages and review effort based on what the data shows.

How results are measured

We report calls, texts and direction requests from the profile, calls from local pages, review count and rating trends, and visibility for the searches that matter to you. Here is the kind of maths we use: if your profile produces 60 calls a month, your team books 45%, and the average job is worth $900 in gross profit, local search is producing about $24,300 a month in gross profit. If better review volume lifts calls by 10, that is roughly $4,000 more each month.

Results from our HVAC work show what steady local and organic effort can do. Roma Heating & Cooling grew organic traffic 400% in 12 months, and BCWide.ca reached 3× leads in 90 days.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Keyword-stuffed business names. Adding "Best Furnace Repair" to your name breaks Google's guidelines and risks suspension.
  • Fake locations. Virtual offices and borrowed addresses are a common reason profiles disappear.
  • Asking for reviews in batches. A sudden burst of reviews, then silence, looks odd and helps less than a steady flow.
  • Ignoring negative reviews. A calm, specific reply often matters more to the next customer than the review itself.
  • One page for everything. A single "services" page cannot compete with competitors who have a page for each job.

Next step

Local search is included in every HVAC.Agency plan, starting with Starter. See pricing, or read how local search fits with our other services. To start, call, text or email through the contact page with your business name and the towns you serve.

Frequently asked questions

How long does local search take to work?

Fixes to an incomplete profile can show effects within weeks. Building strong map visibility in a competitive city usually takes several months of steady work on reviews, pages and profile activity.

Can you get us into the top three map results?

No one can promise map positions. We can show what affects them, what we will change, and track your visibility and calls month by month.

We have two locations. Does that matter?

Yes. Each genuine location with staff can have its own profile. Virtual offices and fake addresses break Google's rules and can get profiles suspended, so we never use them.

Who owns the profile?

You do. Your business should own its Google Business Profile, and we work as a manager on it. If we part ways, you keep everything.
