Frequently asked questions

What is HVACNews.ca?

A Canadian newsroom covering HVAC programs, regulations and market data, and a marketing service for HVAC contractors. Ownership sits with the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group in Vancouver, BC; Ali Sedighi, MBA, edits the newsroom and leads the marketing work.

Are you an HVAC contractor?

No. We report on the trade and market HVAC companies. We never install, repair or service equipment, and we do not give compliance or safety advice.

Where does your news come from?

Official and primary sources we load ourselves: federal departments, the Canada Gazette, the Canada Energy Regulator, provincial safety authorities and utilities. Each story links the source and shows its date.

How much does your marketing cost?

Plans are $2,998, $4,498 or $8,998 a month, and websites start at $3,500 one-time. Prices are in Canadian dollars, plus GST/HST by province.

Is there a long-term contract?

There is no lock-in. Specific terms, such as notice periods, are set out in writing in your proposal.

How long before we see results?

Fixes to your Google Business Profile and website can show effects within weeks. Organic search and content usually take several months. Ads produce calls quickly but need a few weeks of data to tune.

We tried an agency before and it didn't work. Why would this be different?

Ask what went wrong: no call tracking, ads sent to the home page, generic content, or reports full of clicks but no jobs. We measure booked jobs, explain every change, and our plans have no lock-in.

Who owns the website and accounts?

Your business does. The website, domain, Google Business Profile and ad accounts are yours, as confirmed in your proposal.

Can you promise rankings or leads?

No. Nobody controls Google's rankings or how many people need a new furnace this month. We commit to the work, the measurement and the honesty of the reporting.

What do your reports show?

Calls, texts and emails by source, the jobs they became where you share data, what we changed, and what we plan next. Growth plan reporting is weekly; Starter is monthly.

Do you work with contractors outside BC?

Yes, in every province and territory. Our area pages list the regulators and programs we verified in each.

Can you write about rebates for our website?

Yes. That's our program pages service: dated, sourced explanations of each program for homeowners in your area, kept current as programs change.

Do you handle French-language work for Quebec?

Quebec requires French in commercial advertising and on websites aimed at Quebec customers. We include that in any Quebec scope and confirm it in your proposal.

About the newsroom

The short answer: primary sources, real dates, labelled analysis.

Every story in our newsroom starts from an official or primary source, such as a federal announcement, a Canada Gazette notice, a regulator's release or a utility's program terms. We link that source in the text and list it at the end with its date. The date on the story is the source's date, not the day we wrote about it, so you can see how current the information is.

Each story ends with a section titled "What it means for contractors (analysis)". Everything above that heading is reporting. We do not invent quotes or figures, and we do not reproduce press releases at length.

About price and terms

Our plans follow the HVAC.Agency price list: Starter $2,998 a month, Growth $4,498 and Elite $8,998, with websites from $3,500. GST/HST applies by province. Every engagement begins with a 7-day free trial audit, with no credit card and no lock-in.

Some questions don't have a one-line answer on a website, such as how ad spend is billed or what notice is needed to end a plan. Those are confirmed in writing in your proposal before you commit, so there are no surprises. The pricing page explains what drives cost.

About results and reporting

We don't promise rankings or lead numbers, because no one can deliver those promises honestly. What we do promise is clarity: what we did, what it produced, and what we'll change.

The most useful number in HVAC marketing is cost per booked job. If you spend $3,000 in a month and book 15 jobs from that marketing, each job cost $200 to win. Whether that is good depends on the job: excellent for a furnace replacement, poor for a basic tune-up. Our reports are built around that kind of maths. Real results from named HVAC clients are on the results page.

If a past agency let you down

Many contractors come to us after a disappointing agency experience. The common causes are worth checking whatever you decide:

  1. No call tracking, so nobody knew which spend produced jobs.
  2. Ads sent to a home page instead of a page for the specific job.
  3. Generic content with swapped town names.
  4. Reports full of impressions and clicks, with no mention of calls or revenue.
  5. Accounts set up in the agency's name, so the contractor couldn't leave cleanly.

Our approach addresses each one, starting with tracking and ownership. You can read how each of our services is measured.

About news and marketing together

Some readers ask whether a newsroom should also sell marketing. We keep the two separate in one important way: no client pays for coverage, and no story mentions a client's business. The newsroom covers public programs and rules; the marketing side helps contractors explain those same public facts on their own websites.

The connection is practical. When the federal government announced the National Heat Pump Rebate, the useful question for a contractor was not "what happened?" but "what do I tell the homeowner who calls tomorrow?". Our stories end with that analysis, and our services help put it on your website.

About working with us

We meet clients across Canada by video call or in person, and work by phone, text and email. Office hours run Mon–Fri 9–6 Pacific. We usually reply within one business day. We are a marketing and consulting service only; for safety, licensing or code questions, the regulator in your province is the right contact, and our area pages link each one.
