HVACNews.ca is a Canadian newsroom for HVAC contractors and a marketing service for the same audience. On the news side, we report program, regulation and market changes with sources and dates. On the marketing side, we help heating, cooling and ventilation companies turn those changes, and their everyday work, into calls. The newsroom sits within the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group, works from the group's Vancouver, BC headquarters, and is run by Ali Sedighi, MBA.
What we are, and what we are not
The short answer: a newsroom and a marketing consultancy, never a contractor.
Our business is marketing and business consulting for Canadian heating, cooling and ventilation companies. We are not an HVAC contractor. We do not install, repair, inspect or service equipment, and we do not give compliance, engineering or safety advice. When a story touches on regulation, we summarise and link the regulator, and tell readers to confirm with them.
We are also not a program administrator. We explain rebates and programs; utilities and governments decide who qualifies.
Why a newsroom
HVAC contractors in Canada work under a thick layer of programs and rules that change often: federal efficiency standards, provincial safety authorities, utility rebates, federal retrofit programs. Much of what reaches contractors comes second-hand, through supplier flyers, social media or other contractors. We wanted a place where each item links straight to the official source and shows its real date.
The newsroom also keeps our marketing honest. A team that reads the Canada Gazette and federal announcements every week is less likely to write a rebate page that is wrong.

The group behind us
Sedighi.ca is the company through which Ali Sedighi consults on growth, marketing and technology. Under that umbrella sit HVAC.Agency, HVAC.Digital, Trades.Agency, BusinessConsulting.ca and Conv.ca. HVACNews.ca belongs to the HVAC.Agency family, and our plans and prices follow the HVAC.Agency price list.
SAZ.ca, or Strategy & Acceleration Zone, is where the group's Canadian clients go for strategy, AI and revenue acceleration advice. Ali Sedighi founded it, and Sedighi.ca provides its strategic leadership.
How we work with contractors
- We start with your numbers. Average job values, booking rates, service area and where calls come from now. Marketing that ignores those is guesswork.
- We fix the foundations first. An accurate Google Business Profile and a website that answers questions come before ad spend.
- We date and source every changeable claim. Rebate amounts, program status and efficiency standards carry an "as of" date and a link.
- We report plainly. Each month you see what we did, what it produced in calls and jobs, and what we will change.
- You own your assets. Your website, domain, profiles and ad accounts belong to your business, as confirmed in your proposal.
The details of each service are on the services page, and our standards for reporting are on the newsroom page.
Our editorial standards
- Primary sources only, linked in the text and listed with dates.
- The date shown on a story is the date of its source.
- No invented quotes, statistics, client praise or reviews.
- Analysis is labelled as analysis.
- When we can't verify something, we leave it out or say it is unconfirmed.
